Summer Book List <3

Ahhhh, summer. A three month period without homework (unless you have summer classes, in that case, my prayers are with you). But, for the majority, this three month long period will be spent lounging at the pool, watching netflix, attempting to start a workout plan, and eating pints upon pints of ice cream (or maybe that's just me?). I don't know about ya'll, but this vacation will be spent reading books <3. Now that I am no longer obligated to read dreadful essays assigned by my english professor, I am going to take advantage of my library card + amazon giftcards + parents' credit cards and read read read. If you're looking for some of my personal favorites, keep reading! :-) I promise that they won't dissapoint.

1. The Help

The Help is a 2009 novel by American author Kathryn Stockett. The story is about African-American maids working in white households in Jackson, Mississippi, during the early 1960s.

{{ Literally obsessed with this novel. I don't want to give anything away, but I promise you that you will not be disappointed. You will laugh, cry, and get angry, but don't put the book down once you start. Just keep on reading. }}

2. The Secret Life of Bees
The Secret Life of Bees is a book by author Sue Monk Kidd. Set in 1964, the coming-of-age story acknowledges the predicament of loss and betrayal.

{{ This book will teach you many important life lessons. It's an easy read and should take you no more than a week to finish (if you're a slow reader). I absolutely adore this novel. }}

3. Gone Girl

Gone Girl is a thriller novel by American writer Gillian Flynn. Crown Publishing Group published the novel in June 2012 and it soon made the New York Times Best Seller list.

4. A Secret Kept

This stunning new novel from Tatiana de Rosnay, author of the acclaimed New York Times bestseller Sarah’s Key, plumbs the depths of complex family relationships and the power of a past secret to change everything in the present.

{{ DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IN THE DARK. }}

{{ If you've read Sarah's Key, you will love this novel. Even if you haven't read that book, you will still love this novel. It made me cry. It made me smile. It's just.. it's a truly well-written piece of literature. }}

If you have any other suggestions, please e-mail me or leave a comment! I am always looking for another book to add to my shelf :)
